An interview with a DIY’er

1. Where did your inspiration come from?

For my kitchen, it all started with a Serena & Lily magazine. A picture of a crisp, white living room with beautiful vertical battens and hand-hewn beams stopped me dead in my tracks! The first thing I did in my kitchen was to add an accent wall. From there, I knew I wanted to make my kitchen as light and bright as I could without painting all the cabinets! I knew I could make a big impact on the overall appearance of my kitchen with a new hood vent.

2. What was the most important aspect you achieved in your design?

Although I’m drawn to a few different design styles, I knew I had to stick within the overall architecture of my house, which is craftsman, and give it a little modern coastal twist.

3. What was your favorite part of the process of working with Hoodsly?

I was so excited to find Hoodsly! I immediately scheduled an online consult because I didn’t want to mess anything up in the ordering process. JD was great to work with and went through the entire ordering selection process with me, and was even able to show me different hood vents and inserts during the call. I was then able to confidently order my hood vent and insert!

4. Who was your biggest helper in this project?

I would not have been able to do this without the help of my husband! Our existing ductwork and electrical had to be reconfigured for our new hood to be installed. Once we got through that, it was smooth sailing!

5. What is your next project?

Our next project will actually be quite an undertaking as we remodel our new family cottage! That kitchen will be a complete demo and we are so excited to bring our followers along on our journey!
