Enhancing Functionality and Style: A Designer's Approach to Kitchen Renovations

Erin Hodges, Owner of Edenn Design, says the original kitchen layout wasn't working for the homeowner. The new layout needed to improve storage, functionality, and flow for the homeowner's family and entertaining needs. 

One key aspect of this renovation was the incorporation of black cabinetry, a bold choice that was a must for the homeowner. Erin says to compliment the cabinets, "We knew we wanted to have a bright, bold, pattern tile." Adding the white, curved hood with brass to this project, not only breaks up the bold patterns of the tiles but also adds visual interest to the kitchen. The designer adds that it is the focal point of the kitchen. 

Erin says as a former cabinetry person, storage is crucial. The designer added ample storage solutions like a big kitchen island and cabinet dividers in their design. This attention to detail ensures that every inch of the kitchen is utilized effectively, providing ample storage for utensils cookware, and pantry items. To cut down on costs for the homeowner, they kept some of the original appliances and windows in the home. 

Erin continues, "Having that open communication and trusting relationship" between the homeowner and designer is paramount. By fostering open dialogue and collaboration, potential hurdles were swiftly addressed, ensuring a smooth and successful outcome. The designer emphasizes the value of having a kitchen designer to optimize the layout and functionality and avoid issues during construction.
