Designer Spotlight: Zoe Grant of DBD Lifestyles
At Hoodsly, we love seeing how talented designers use our range hoods to elevate spaces in fresh, creative ways. Today, we're thrilled to spotlight interior designer Zoe Grant, one-half of the vibrant duo behind DBD Lifestyles, a design firm known for their signature style of whimsical luxury and bold, joyful interiors.
Meet Zoe of DBD Lifestyles
Zoe Grant and her business partner Madeleine Biache founded DBD Lifestyles with a shared belief that design should be luxurious but never too serious. Based in New England and Florida, the two create spaces that incorporate color, support local artists, and celebrate playfulness alongside sophistication.
"Our philosophy is all about whimsical luxury—a balance of style and spirit," Zoe explains. "We use a lot of color and love supporting small businesses in our work."

A Kitchen Refresh Rooted in Character
Zoe’s recent kitchen project is the perfect example of how a few thoughtful changes can completely transform a space. Originally drawn to a copper range hood for its warmth and timeless charm, she was disappointed to find her Facebook Marketplace purchase wasn’t real copper.
"We lived with it for about two years, trying different backsplash solutions, but it never felt right," she says. "When the opportunity came to work with Hoodsly, I knew it was time to create something that truly reflected the rest of our home."
The upgrade included a beautiful Hoodsly range hood painted in Sherwin Williams Upward, new marble tile, brass cabinet hardware, and crown molding—all subtle changes that added up to a more timeless and cohesive kitchen.

Must-Haves and Meaningful Details
As a designer, Zoe knew she didn’t need a complete renovation to achieve the look she wanted. "I wanted the space to feel more finished," she explains. "The molding and tile to the ceiling actually made our 8' ceilings feel taller. And I’ve always loved arched range hoods, so it makes me happy every day to see it."
When asked about her favorite part of the finished kitchen, Zoe doesn’t hesitate: "The hood and its built-in light—when we turned it on for the first time, we literally ooh’d and ahh’d."
Advice for Homeowners Taking on a Refresh
Zoe encourages homeowners not to be intimidated by the idea of updating their kitchens. "You don’t always need a full remodel. Sometimes changing one thing makes all the difference. A new backsplash, paint color, or hardware can completely shift the vibe of the room."
In her case, it was the new Hoodsly hood and tile that brought everything together. "The key to great design is being willing to play and try new ideas, even if they don’t always work."

Why She Chose Hoodsly
Zoe initially planned to match her range hood to the cabinetry but found herself stuck trying to source the exact paint color. "At the last minute, I changed it to my favorite soft blue—and Hoodsly absolutely nailed it. It came packaged beautifully, and the install instructions were easy to follow."
She also appreciated the thoughtful customer experience: "Everyone on the Hoodsly team was so kind and patient throughout the process."
Tips for Bringing Color into the Kitchen
Known for her bold but balanced use of color, Zoe has some expert tips for homeowners looking to embrace colorful design:
"Add personality with pieces that are easy to swap out—art, towels, dishes, vases. Keep cabinetry and tile timeless so you can build around them. Most importantly, have a throughline. Whether it’s a texture, color, or shape, that consistency makes your whole home feel connected."
She also emphasizes the importance of harmony in finishes: "When we had the faux copper hood, our copper hardware worked. But once we swapped the hood and tile, brass worked so much better with the lighting and fixtures throughout the house."

Statement Pieces That Speak
For Zoe, design often begins with a standout piece—a flea market find, a bold idea, or, in this case, a handcrafted Hoodsly range hood.
"Sometimes the room tells you what it needs," she says. "Our kitchen felt incomplete until we brought in the right hood. And now? It feels like home."
